Automated Blinds, Comfort + Savings
Queenstown's light is intense in summer and the cold bites hard in winter, blinds and curtains do more thermal work here than in most parts of the country, which makes automating them worth more too.
What's actually involved
A relay behind the existing motor (or a retrofit motor if you don't have one yet) lets blinds run on a schedule tied to sunrise/sunset, or respond to temperature, closing against afternoon heat, opening again once it's passed.
What it looks like at scale
Our largest smart home job included eleven blind relays controlling fifteen separate blinds across the house, plus handheld remotes for the ones without a switch nearby, all part of the same 28-device system covering lighting and blinds together.
